MessageLogReader loaded each decompressed message log into memory and split it into an array of lines, holding it for the reader's lifetime. Read one line at a time from an open handle instead, and release the handle as soon as the file is exhausted or the reader is closed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
XREAD without COUNT returns everything from the consumer's offset to the stream tail, so a consumer that falls behind on high-rate telemetry pulls an unbounded reply into memory at once. Default to 1000 entries per stream and have the cmd-tlm-api streaming threads read at most one batch per stream. Streaming threads now advance offsets past skipped stored packets so a capped read cannot stall re-reading them. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
plugin_microservice.rb exec()s the configured cmd, which replaces the process image and kills the Metric update thread it just started. A cmd that is itself an OpenC3::Microservice builds a new Metric and keeps reporting, but a plugin running a Rails app, a python script or any other binary never loads the OpenC3 libraries, so its cpu and memory froze at whatever the bootstrap sampled and never changed again. - Add OpenC3::ProcessStats to sample cpu/memory for an arbitrary pid, using Etc.sysconf rather than shelling out to getconf and splitting /proc/<pid>/stat from the last paren so a comm containing spaces or parens can't shift the field offsets - Sample every child pid from Operator#publish_process_metrics each cycle, keeping one ProcessStats per microservice so cpu deltas accumulate across cycles and resetting it when a respawn changes pid - Store operator reported values under MetricModel::PROCESS_PRIMARY_KEY and merge them on read, so the operator and the microservice are never two writers of one field - Skip Metric.add_update_generator when OPENC3_OPERATOR_PROCESS_METRICS is set, which microservice_operator.rb sets on every child it spawns - Drop the bootstrap metrics row in PluginMicroservice#run before exec so the stale sample is never published Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Describe the processed/ and error/ split under decom_logs and how to retry a file by moving it back once the cause is fixed - Add error/ to the directories to remove after verifying the data - Note the migration microservice idles when done, so the plugin should be uninstalled from the Admin Console Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
_log_info always printed to stdout, so info messages bypassed the microservice logger that _log_warn and _log_error already use. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Microservice.run publishes INITIALIZED, then sets @State to RUNNING in memory only and calls run. Plugins never start the periodic status thread, and PluginMicroservice#run exec()s the configured cmd, so the RUNNING state was never written. A plugin running a Rails app, a python script or any other binary showed INITIALIZED in the Microservices tab forever even though it was running. A cmd that is itself an OpenC3::Microservice publishes its own status and overwrites this. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
ModifiedPluginDialog picks its upgrade flow once at creation, so opening it before /openc3-api/info returned could skip versioning and report no conflicts. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
handle_enabled referenced an undefined usage variable, so an invalid ENABLED/DISABLED value raised NameError instead of ConfigParser::Error. The message now names the actual keyword (MAP_CMD_TARGET, MAP_TLM_TARGET). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
LOG_STREAM with no parameters is stored as an empty list, which is falsy in Python, so InterfaceModel.build never started raw stream logging. Ruby already treats an empty array as enabled. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Ruby encodes NaN/Infinity/-Infinity as {"json_class":"Float","raw":...},
but JsonDecoder only unwrapped the String form, so such command parameters
reached build_cmd as dicts instead of floats.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Packet#obfuscate overwrote obfuscated items in the buffer but kept their given values, so an obfuscated parameter with a write conversion was published to DECOMCMD as its plaintext __C value. Ruby and Python now remove those given values (case-insensitive) when obfuscating. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Unexpected connect/read errors logged a full backtrace on every reconnect attempt. Ruby and Python now log it only the first time each distinct message is seen. Python also stops logging backtraces for expected network errors: the `is Exception` check was always false and lost connections had no filter at all. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
RouterTopic.route_command sent unidentified buffers with target_name UNKNOWN, so the interface identified them against no real target and ignored whether the routed target was disabled. It now names the routed target; the interface sends a buffer it still can't identify as UNKNOWN on that target's behalf. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…nnect A write protocol returning DISCONNECT from write_packet or write_data disconnected the interface but returned normally, so the command was acked SUCCESS and published although nothing was written. Interface#write now raises WriteRejectError, giving an error ack and no publish. STOP is unchanged. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
CommandTopic, CommandDecomTopic and TelemetryDecomTopic wrote stored as "True"/"False" while Ruby writes "true"/"false". Readers are case-insensitive, but the stream contents now match between implementations. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Interface microservices (Ruby and Python) now always queue CVT and stream writes, using DEFAULT_UPDATE_INTERVAL of 0.1 seconds - UPDATE_INTERVAL 0 (or less) disables queuing to write immediately - Document the new default and the disable option in interfaces.md Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Add a CCSDS Protocols (Enterprise) section covering TCTF, CLTU, TMTF, USLP, COP-1, SDLS and the SLE interfaces from openc3-cosmos-ccsds-protocols, and fix the Python examples to reference the plugin's protocol files. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Conversion templates and docs suggested the tlm API for reading other packets. System.telemetry.packet reads the latest in-memory values in decom without a database round trip. Also return value in Ruby template. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
`if green_low:` was falsy for 0, so items with a green low limit of 0 reported GREEN instead of BLUE/GREEN_LOW/GREEN_HIGH. Also correct the LIMITS docs: a value equal to a limit is in the more severe state. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Add descriptions option to PacketConfig and System so decom and interface microservices drop descriptions they never use (Ruby/Python) - Set RUBY_GC_HEAP_GROWTH_FACTOR=1.2 in the openc3-ruby images so loading large definitions doesn't overshoot the heap - Add test/integration/cmd_tlm generator and benchmarks for a 2000 packet, 500k item, 2M state definition Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Create PacketItemLimits on first access and add limits_state and limits_values readers so decom and as_json don't allocate them - Stop creating an empty state_colors hash whenever states are set, guarding handle_limits_states for items with states but no colors - Dedup item names and keys (-str / sys.intern) plus Python state names, since Python dicts don't share string keys like Ruby hashes Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Add __slots__ to StructureItem and PacketItem since 39 attributes exceed Python's shared-key dict limit (1.6 KB dict per item) - Rename the StructureItem.create_index class counter to _next_create_index so it doesn't clash with the instance slot - Create PacketItem meta on first access instead of an empty dict - Update states and states_by_value in place in StateParser instead of rebuilding both dicts on every STATE line - Compile the ConfigParser parsing regex once per file, not per line Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

- openc3/lib/openc3/microservices/interface_microservice.rb:609 - Nonzero telemetry shards retained a one-second queue interval; apply the configured interval to every telemetry target shard. - openc3/python/openc3/microservices/interface_microservice.py:696 - Fixed the equivalent shard interval bug and added Python and Ruby regression coverage. AI-Review-Bot: true AI-Review-Run: 38000332622
The connection failed/lost message lists were never cleared, so a backtrace was logged only once for the life of the microservice. They are now cleared on a successful connect and when the user requests a connect. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- openc3/python/openc3/packets/packet.py:1351 - SonarQube python:S7504 flagged the `list()` call used to delete keys during iteration, and the code changed the caller's `params` dict in place, because the Python `given_values` setter does not copy (Ruby's setter clones). Fix: build a new filtered dict instead, and use a set to look up the obfuscated names. This keeps Python consistent with Ruby. - openc3/python/test/packets/test_packet.py:1914 - The new test copied the setup of test_obfuscates_a_single_uint_item almost line for line, which added to new_duplicated_lines_density (3.3 against a limit of 3). Fix: moved the given_values assertion, with mixed-case keys, into the existing test and removed the duplicate. - openc3/spec/packets/packet_spec.rb:1856 - Same duplication in the Ruby spec. Fix: moved the given_values assertion into the existing 'obfuscates a single UINT item' spec and removed the duplicate. AI-Review-Bot: true AI-Review-Run: 38018577445

Python 3.10 is EOL. Raise requires-python, the ruff target and the ty python-version to 3.11, update the classifiers (add 3.15), docs and script headers, and re-lock to drop the 3.10-only dependency forks (tomli, exceptiongroup, older numpy). Remove the code that only existed for 3.10: the tomli fallback in the license audit and the sys.version_info TryStar guards in the script instrumentor. Apply the pyupgrade fixes the py311 target enables (timezone.utc -> UTC, asyncio.TimeoutError -> TimeoutError). protocol.py and test_time.py used timezone via `from openc3.api import *` rather than importing it, so they now import UTC explicitly; removing the unused timezone imports from the api modules would otherwise break them. Love all the UTC updates! I'm assuming that the ginormous diff is due to changes from main not yet being in release/v8.0.0. I got to look at this before you changed the base so I'm going to approve, but maybe it would make sense to get release/v8.0.0 up to date with main before merging this

What changed
Remove support for Python 3.10 which is EOL: https://devguide.python.org/versions/
Why it changed
We only support maintained versions of Python. Plus this avoids a lock split in Enterprise.
Testing strategy
Rebuild
Review notes
Changing the linter to py311 resulted in a huge number of changes to python files. Those can be ignored during the review.
We can't support 3.15 yet. See #4133
