🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Ignore Enter during IME composition in the no-match handler.
This handler runs while no loaded branch matches. In that state, Enter calls preventDefault() and pagingRequest(). CJK input methods also send an Enter keydown to confirm a candidate. A user who types a branch name with an IME therefore triggers a page request on each confirmation. Check event.nativeEvent.isComposing first and return early when it is true.
Proposed fix
(event: React.KeyboardEvent) => {
if (!noMatchShownRef.current) return;
+ if (event.nativeEvent.isComposing) return;
if (event.key === 'Enter') event.preventDefault();Based on learnings: "check e.nativeEvent.isComposing ... and ignore the Enter if true."

…fPicker The remap of a design's source in Meshery Cloud (layer5io/meshery-cloud#6119) walks connection -> repository -> ref -> file. The GitHub primitives from #1870 had no single-repository pick list and no ref step. - GitHubRepositoryPicker gains `singleSelect`: a plain list without checkboxes, `selected` holds at most one entry, `onChange` receives `[repository]`, and a bound repository not yet paged in is still listed. - GitHubRefPicker picks a branch, or a typed tag with `allowCustomRef`. `''` is the default branch, which is listed first and marked; picking, typing, or clearing to it reports `''`. Paging follows the other pick lists (`hasMore`, `loading`, `onLoadMore`, a loading row under the list). MUI's Autocomplete (still in 9.5) re-highlights the selected option and scrolls it back into view on any render after its options change, which threw the reader back to the selected branch whenever a page was requested or landed. The picker re-renders the Autocomplete only when what it shows changes, sends paging state to the popup through context, restores the reader's scroll position, and stops arrow keys at the last loaded branch while more pages exist. Stories (remap step, ref states), tests for each state and the paging regressions, and the pattern doc are updated. Signed-off-by: Cooper Fitzgerald <182300328+fitzergerald@users.noreply.github.com>
The remap modal's file step (layer5io/meshery-cloud#6119) uses GitHubFileTree in singleSelect mode, where a checkbox per file misstated a one-file choice. In singleSelect mode the files are now a radio group named by the tree's aria-label, with each radio visually hidden: the chosen row carries the MUI selected tint, as GitHubRepositoryPicker singleSelect does, the row shows a focus ring, and arrow keys move the choice. Picking replaces the file rather than clearing it, matching the repository picker. File icons keep their alignment with folder icons. Tests cover the radio group, replacement, and one group per tree; the file tree story gains a single-select section; the pattern doc is updated. Reset the branch list when the repository changes in the remap story.
The repository onChange handler clears ref and file, but it keeps branches and loading. After you pick another repository, the ref picker still lists the previous repository's branches. Paging also continues from the old count. The pattern doc says hosts must fetch branches again when the repository changes, so this story shows the wrong host behavior. useLoadMore clears its per-filter auto-fill record only when contentKey gets smaller. If the list is reset, the new repository starts with a fresh paging state.

Intent
Assign the next four open issues in the meshery-cloud project to crewmates.
One of those issues is https://github.com/layer5io/meshery-cloud/issues/6119, "feat(ux): Remap source-design binding and commit-SHA pin for drift". Its acceptance criteria include "UI: Remap modal (connection -> repo -> ref -> file) in shared wizard components", and its author's comments say to consume the Sistent GitHub-connection primitives from #1847 rather than shipping one-off GitHub-connection UI.
Those primitives shipped in #1870, but they cover the repository step only as a multi-select and have no ref (branch or tag) step, which the remap modal needs.
What Changed
GitHubRefPicker, a new component exported from theGitHubConnectionbarrel. It is a controlled Autocomplete for choosing a branch or ref. The default branch is listed first and reported as''. WithallowCustomRef, typed free-text refs (a tag, a commit, or a branch on a page not fetched yet) are accepted. Branches are paged in as the list is scrolled to its end or opens without filling its height. When a typed filter matches no loaded branch, the picker shows a mode-aware hint and fetches at most one more page per filter value. It also has keyboard load-more (Enter), a persistent live region and a loading row.singleSelectprop toGitHubRepositoryPicker. It renders a single-value list with no checkboxes,onChangealways receives[repository], and a selected repository that is not on a fetched page yet is listed first so the Select can still show it.useLoadMorehook with an optionalfilter(auto-fill is capped to once per distinct non-empty filter, and the record is reset when the list shrinks) and withrequest/requestIfArmed, so callers with no scroll container to measure can page. Adds stories, tests insrc/__testing__/GitHubConnection.test.tsx, and updatessystem/patterns/github-connection.mdfor the ref step and single-select repository step.Risk Assessment
Testing
I rebuilt the disposable browser harness against the current source and drove every scenario in headless Chromium through playwright-core. The round-1 failure (clearing a selected branch fetched all 300 branches in 30 pages) is fixed: 0 page requests over 10 seconds, and the full list stays visible. The other 11 scenarios also pass: single-select repository, the ref step with its default badge, the typed tag kept in custom-ref mode, the file step enabling Remap, paging on scroll, at most one automatic page per typed filter, Enter loading more without submitting the form, and retyping a selection. I refreshed the screenshots in light and dark mode in the evidence directory. The focused GitHubConnection jest file passes. The temp harness copy and server were torn down, and the worktree is clean.
Evidence: Clearing a selected branch: no page requests, list unfiltered (transcript)
Evidence: Clearing an empty field, custom-ref mode off and on (transcript)
Evidence: Transcript of scenarios S1-S11

This is a product wording decision.src/custom/GitHubConnection/GitHubRefPicker.tsx:293- This is a sibling the round-1 fix (ref-picker-no-match-crawls-all-branches-for-tags) left in place. The round now caps automatic paging for a filter that matches no branch (requestOncePerFilter, :293-298). A filter that matches only a few branches still goes through the list box auto-fill:useLoadMore'sfillIfShortruns inReact.useEffect(fillIfShort)and in theattachListboxref (loadMore.ts:72-85). That auto-fill re-arms on every newcontentKey(branches.length, GitHubRefPicker.tsx:226). Concrete case: a repository with 3,000 branches at 100 per page. The user typesv2and one loaded branch,v2-hotfix, matches. The one-row list box does not overflow, sorequestIfArmedrequests a page. When it lands,branches.lengthchanges, the effect re-arms, and the next page is requested. This repeats for as long as the filtered list stays short and the popup is open, up to all 30 pages. That is the same rate-limit cost the cap was meant to stop, and it is the "typo in a branch name" case the original finding named. The doc's Paging bullet now says "Further pages load only on request", which this path contradicts. The recorded instruction covered only "when nothing matches", so extending the per-filter cap to a short filtered list changes paging behavior and needs the author's authorization. A possible remedy: route the list box auto-fill through the same once-per-filter guard whileinputValueis non-empty, or narrow the doc sentence to the no-match case.src/custom/GitHubConnection/GitHubRefPicker.tsx:226- This is a gap in the round-2 fix (ref-picker-short-match-list-still-crawls), which addedconst filter = inputValue === (shown ?? '') ? '' : inputValue. That expression treats "the field text equals the selection" as "no filter". MUI's rule is narrower: it skips filtering only while the input is pristine (inputValueIsSelectedValue && inputPristine ? '' : inputValue, useAutocomplete.js:236).inputPristinebecomes false as soon as the user types (:1035) and is reset only on open (:615). So when the user types text that exactly matches the selected ref, MUI filters the list butuseLoadMoregetsfilter=''. It then falls back to the content-key rule, which re-arms on every page arrival. Concrete case: valuedevelopin a repository with 3,000 branches. The user opens the field, deletes the lastp(filterdevelo, one request), and types it again.inputValue === shown, sofilteris '' while MUI shows only[develop]. The one-row list box never overflows, sofillIfShortrequests a page on everybranches.lengthchange, up to all pages. The same happens with the default branch (typingmainwhen value is ''). This is the crawl the round was meant to stop, and it also contradicts the doc's Paging bullet ("While a typed filter is in effect ... at most one more page"). Fix: track pristine state the way MUI does. Keep atypedflag thatonInputChangesets on reason'input'and thatonOpenand reason'reset'/'selectOption'clear, and derivefilter = typed ? inputValue : ''. Add a test that retypes the selected ref and asserts at most one automatic request across page arrivals.🔧 Fix applied.

But MUI's own inputPristine stays false (MUI resets it only on open), so MUI filters the list to the single 'main' row. The empty-filter fill-if-short rule then requests a page on every arrival: 29 requests and all 300 branches in 10 seconds of idling (evidence: ref-picker-cleared-selection-crawl.txt). This is the rate-limit crawl the round-1/2/3 decisions set out to stop. The trigger is the decided rule itself: 'reset' clearstyped, but MUI's pristine flag does not clear on a value-driven reset while the popup is open. A fix would cleartypedonly where MUI clears pristine (on open), or keeptypedthrough a reset while the popup is open. Either departs from the recorded instruction ('reasons reset/selectOption clear'), so the author must authorize it. A related UX oddity: Backspace on the selected text snaps the field to 'main' rather than leaving it empty for a new filter.Bundledsrc/custom/GitHubConnection/GitHubConnection.stories.tsxplus a 300-branch, 10-per-pageGitHubRefPickerharness with esbuild into a page under the evidence directory, served it on 127.0.0.1:8765, and drove it with playwright-core and the cached Chromium 1243 (harness/drive.js)RemapSourceStep (light and dark): repository single-select menu, default branch badge, picking a branch, typing a tag and pressing Enter then blur, file pick enabling Remap, re-clicking the file to clear itBigRepo: opening with an empty filter, scrolling to the end, a no-match typed filter, Enter with no match (with and without allowCustomRef, inside a form), typing the default branch name, a filter that matches few branches, retyping the selected ref (harness/s10b.js)Adversarial: select branch-2, reopen, press Backspace once, then idle 10s (harness/s13.js); control case with value '' (harness/s12.js)Screenshots of the RefPickerStates and RepositoryPickerStates stories in light and dark🔧 Fix applied.
