* muffin version: 5.6.2
* Distribution - Manjaro Cinnamon
In the newer versions of Cinnamon I couldn't get smooth dragging windows because they were always tiling to other windows and screen edges. I have checked previous ISOs with older Cinnamon versions and it appears that the option that I was looking for is "Edge resistance with other windows and screen and monitor boundaries" and in dconf editor "edge-resistance-window" respectively.
I came here because of the opposite problem: I would like to increase the amount of window resistance, as I'm currently getting none. Still, +1 for configurable monitor edge resistance!
I actually would like this to be revisited. I have never cared or used edge resistance. If this used to be an option to toggle on or off, what was the reason to making it permanently on without a toggle? Can we get this toggle back? Or have the dconf entry?
I've opened pull request #828 to address this, as it was bothering me a bit as well, Debian Trixie.
The PR brings back the edge-resistance-window gsettings/dconf key that was dropped in an earlier refactor, so gsettings set org.cinnamon.muffin edge-resistance-window false works again to disable window-to-window edge resistance.
The default setting is true, so nothing changes unless you opt out. Note it only
affects resistance between windows. Monitor and screen edge resistance
is left as-is. And there is no UI setting implemented here.
Tested from a source build on Debian Trixie / Cinnamon.

Same boat. Seems like
gsettings set org.cinnamon.muffin edge-resistance-window falsemay also have worked earlier, but no longer.Jer-C commentedon Jun 5, 2024

No new updates on this? Should we all just downgrade?
