Events nanoflow without correct role causes endless refresh loop #2359
Put an Events widget on a page which executes a nanoflow once and immediately. If the nanoflow doesn't have the current user's role in its allowed roles, it will cause an endless loop refreshing the page. You can verify by putting a debugger on a dataview source microflow for the main page object for example, or by watching debug log messages in the browser console.
Thanks for the report. As I understand it, an Events widget configured to run a nanoflow once on load causes the page to refresh endlessly when the current user's role is not allowed to run that nanoflow.
To reproduce this, we need a few more details:
Which Events widget version and which Mendix Studio Pro version are you using? The current source in the repository is 1.3.1.
How is the Events widget configured? Please give the event type (on load or on attribute change), the delay, and whether "Repeat" is enabled.
What does "refreshing the page" mean here? Does the whole page reload in the browser, or do the data sources (for example the data view microflow) re-run while the page stays open?
Does the loop also happen with a microflow, or when the user does have the role? That tells us whether the missing role is the trigger.
Do the browser console logs show any error, such as an access-denied message, just before each refresh?
For context: the widget only starts the action when Mendix reports that it can be executed (canExecute). That makes the exact configuration and the console output important for finding where the loop comes from.
Automated triage by Claude. It can be wrong, and a maintainer makes the final decision.
