🌍 Phase 2 Epic: Multi-Architecture Support

Overview

Expand VanitySSH to support all major platforms and architectures, with special focus on Apple Silicon (ARM64 macOS) and cross-compilation optimization.

Goals

  • βœ… ARM64 macOS support (Apple Silicon users)
  • βœ… Cross-platform compilation for all targets
  • βœ… Static Linux binaries (no dependencies)
  • βœ… Windows ARM64 support
  • βœ… Optimized builds for each platform

Target Architecture Matrix

Primary Targets (Tier 1)

  • Linux x86_64 (GNU + MUSL static)
  • macOS x86_64 (Intel Macs)
  • macOS ARM64 (Apple Silicon) ⭐️ CRITICAL - High User Impact
  • Windows x86_64 (MSVC)

Secondary Targets (Tier 2)

  • Linux ARM64 (ARM servers, Raspberry Pi)
  • Windows ARM64 (Surface Pro X, ARM laptops)

Phase 2 Tasks

Core Multi-Architecture

Success Criteria

  • All primary platforms build successfully
  • ARM64 macOS binaries work on Apple Silicon
  • Static Linux binaries run without dependencies
  • Cross-compilation CI pipeline functional
  • Platform-specific optimizations active

Timeline

Target: Week 2-3
Depends on: Phase 1 completion

Expected Impact

  • Apple Silicon users can run native optimized binaries
  • ARM server users get native performance
  • Linux users get dependency-free installation
  • Windows ARM early adopter support

Technical Challenges

  • Cross-compilation complexity
  • Platform-specific testing
  • Binary size optimization
  • Architecture-specific performance tuning
