As the description says - some users had a problem with missing Lambda function URL permissions, which seems to not be enforced on our developer accounts.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • AWS Lambda execution roles now include DynamoDB permissions.
    • Public Lambda Function URLs receive the permissions needed for URL-based invocation, restricted to calls through the URL. Those permissions are removed when the public URL is deleted.
  • Documentation
    • Clarified that user-defined Lambda roles are configured by ARN and documented the permissions used for public Function URLs.

📝 Walkthrough

Lambda execution roles now include DynamoDB access. Public Function URLs with NONE authentication receive two resource-based permission statements, which cleanup attempts to remove when the URL is deleted. The platform documentation describes these permissions and role configuration.

Changes: AWS Lambda permissions

Layer / File(s) Summary
Lambda execution role policies
sebs/aws/config.py, docs/platforms.md
The automatically created Lambda role now includes AmazonDynamoDBFullAccess. The documentation lists the managed policies and specifies that user-defined roles are configured by ARN.
Public Function URL permissions
sebs/aws/config.py, docs/platforms.md
For URLs with NONE authentication, setup attempts to add lambda:InvokeFunctionUrl and URL-restricted lambda:InvokeFunction permissions. It logs and ignores existing statements. Deletion attempts to remove both statements and ignores missing statements. The documentation describes their scope and removal.

Scope the new DynamoDB access before merging. A concurrent Function URL creation can also leave its permissions inconsistent with the URL’s actual authentication setting.

Scope DynamoDB permissions to SeBS tables.

sebs-lambda-role is shared by the Lambda functions, but AmazonDynamoDBFullAccess allows dynamodb:* on Resource: "*". SeBS tables use the predictable sebs-benchmarks-{resources_id}-{benchmark}-{name} pattern. Replace the managed policy with an inline policy that grants only the required DynamoDB actions on the deployment's SeBS table ARNs. Update the platform documentation to match.

Use the recovered URL authentication type after a creation conflict.

When create_function_url_config raises ResourceConflictException, the code retrieves the existing configuration but keeps the requested auth_type. If another creator created an AWS_IAM URL while this call requested NONE, the permission loop can add public Function URL statements to the IAM-authenticated URL. Assign the recovered AuthType before applying permissions.
