    @Mistera91

    I tried to trace this for a bit.

    My findings :
    The segfault occurs line 688 of sounddevice.py, if it was an Exception instead of a segfault, the traceback would look like this :

    Traceback (most recent call last):
      File "/friture/friture/audiobackend.py", line 101, in __init__
        (self.stream, self.ringBuffer, self.action, self.nchannels_max) = self.open_stream(device)
                                                                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^^^^^^^^
      File "/friture/friture/audiobackend.py", line 321, in open_stream
        self.log_supported_input_formats(device)
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^^^^^^^^
      File "/friture/friture/audiobackend.py", line 361, in log_supported_input_formats
        sounddevice.check_input_settings(
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^
            device=device['index'],
            ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
        ...<2 lines>...
            extra_settings=None,
            ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
            samplerate=samplerate)
            ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
      File "/lib/python3.14/site-packages/sounddevice.py", line 688, in check_input_settings
        _check(_lib.Pa_IsFormatSupported(parameters, _ffi.NULL, samplerate))
               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    Note that the call to _check is never made : what fails is the call to _lib.Pa_IsFormatSupported.

    The content of parameters (<cdata 'struct PaStreamParameters *' owning 32 bytes>) :

    parameters {
        channelCount: 2,
        device: 18,
        hostApiSpecificStreamInfo: <cdata 'void *' NULL>,
        sampleFormat: 1,
        suggestedLatency: 0.0
    }

    (and samplerate is set to 22050).

    I may have more time in the future but for now I’ll stop there, hope it can help anyone.
