C++ systems engineer, 20+ years in software, 16+ of them in C++. I work on the low-level side of backends: distributed systems, networking, concurrency, and making things fast.
Now: Founding Engineer / CTO at a crypto trading startup. I wrote connectors to six exchanges (Binance, Bybit, OKX, KuCoin, HTX, Bitget) and am building the market data platform behind them.
Before: nearly six years on Kagome, the C++ Polkadot Host. I joined as one of the first three engineers and owned consensus (BABE, GRANDPA, SASSAFRAS) on a live network. I also worked on cpp-libp2p, cpp-jam and qlean-mini, a Lean Ethereum consensus client. Earlier came multiplayer game servers and a mobile backend serving up to ~100M requests a day.
soralog is my lock-free C++ logging library. It replaced spdlog in Kagome, cpp-libp2p, cpp-jam and qlean-mini. Most of my commercial work is closed source, so the projects above are the best place to see how I write code.
C++17/20/23 every day, Rust in newer projects. Linux, CMake, Boost.Asio and Beast, libp2p. perf, flame graphs and sanitizers are part of my normal loop. I use AI coding agents a lot; tests and review keep them honest.
HFT and trading infrastructure (market data, exchange connectivity, low latency), distributed systems, blockchain protocol and node engineering. Remote, CET-aligned hours.
Embedded projects: Beam Keeper, a smart headlight for my electric unicycle (ESP32, IMU, LiDAR), and a smart home on a Wirenboard controller. Also trekking and SUP.
